Sitting here looking out the glass door onto the expanse of trees outside my apartment’s deck and Adele on Xbox Music lending the perfect atmosphere to an otherwise awesome day, I could almost convince myself I was sitting in the country. Birds are flitting and flying through the tree branches, and I’ve seen a butterfly – a sad, rare thing of late – , and squirrels busy jumping from branch to branch and tree to tree with various things clenched tightly in their mouths.
The squirrels, of course, attract most of the attention from the other members of the household. Willie, especially, becomes very interested when one of the squirrels makes it all the way onto the deck. They have committed unforgivable crimes of entering his territory; he must protect his Mommy, his home, and the other dogs from such nasty improprieties as squirrel-feet on his deck. It doesn’t matter there is a glass door between them, and a screen. Willie makes sure they know just what would happen if squirrel and dog should ever meet! The squirrel usually responds by licking its front paws and washing its face. This further infuriates said dog.
Yeah, you may be able to take the girl out of the country (mountains), but you can never take the country (mountains) out of the girl. Or the dog.
Sounds like you were in a a very peaceful and restful space under the watchful eye of Willie. I don’t have a Willie in my life, but today is set aside for rest and peace in my life. Thank you for the reminder to take a break.
