How can Christmas be complete without A Christmas Carol? Charles Dickens’ vision of a miser and his conversion has been told in many different ways on the small screen as well as the big. The first version of this story I read as a play for a school play. I saw the black and white, 1938 version on TV in the hospital when I was young. It struck a deep chord with me, especially the creepy nature of the ghosts.
In college I actually read the written work of Dickens and love it to this day.
Since then, I have seen several different versions such as Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol and Bugs Bunny’s version. One of the best screen versions of the movie in the past few years is the animated version with Jim Carey as Scrooge. The Husband and I saw this one on the big screen and we loved it so well we made sure to get a DVD copy for us.
And, who can forget A Muppet’s Christmas Carol?!
