Advent Day 8 And 9 + Update

Hello all, sorry for the delay in the Advent posts, but I now have a sinus/ear infection making me feel like doing anything, much less write or prepare for Christmas.  Yeah, I know, perfect timing, Right?  Anyway, here are days 8 and 9 for Advent:

Advent Day  8 –  CHRISTMAS CARDS!

I love Christmas cards.  I love shopping for them, sending them, as well as receiving them.  When I was doing a bit of research on this I came upon a blog post that says it all, so now I re-direct you to here.  You may want to consider following Interesting Literature.  There are always tasty tidbits there.

Finding good Christmas cards is a challenge.  They should have color, make you smile upon seeing it, and having wonderful words inside to add your own special yule-tide greetings to.  This means there should also be room to write.

Advent Day 9 – Candy

When I was a little girl, one of the happiest memories is of Daddy or Uncle Bud bringing Christmas candy to the house.  It was always a big bag of hard candy.  Each piece of candy was different and tasted different.  Mommy and I would go digging through the candy bowl to find our favorites at least a couple of times a day.

One of the candies in particular was both our favorite:  It had a “birch” flavor.  This is what my Mommy called the flavor anyway.  It was sweet and almost bitter, with a licorice undertone.  Those pieces of candy lasted for hours.  I remember rolling the candy piece in my mouth and reading raptly forever.   It always surprised me to discover how far I reached in a book before the piece was gone!

About Henrietta Handy

I have returned home to the mountains. No more am I "a mountain-girl far from home." Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 2 1/2, I understand pain, fatigue, laughter, joy, and love all while on crutches and in wheelchairs. This blog is just about me, mostly the writing side, but there are forays into so many different topics. I am married to a wonderful husband who puts up with my writing, knitting, yarn, with the love of a saint. We have fur babies, and one cat who rules us all.
