10 things to include on your author website

Callisto Green

Although all authors and all websites are different, there are some elements of a writer’s site that are standard practice to include and which your readers will expect to see. Here are ten things you should always aim to include on an author website:

1. Information about yourself

Being an author is not quite like being an accountant or a sales rep. Okay, being an author is not at all like being an accountant or a sales rep. But one of the specific differences is that people are genuinely interested not only in your work, but how you work, where, when and why you write as you do, and generally what makes you tick. They want to know about who you are. Even the little day-to-day details. Especially the little day-to-day details. They’re curious. Maybe nosey, even! But this is a good thing because it shows that they’re interested.

About Henrietta Handy

I have returned home to the mountains. No more am I "a mountain-girl far from home." Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 2 1/2, I understand pain, fatigue, laughter, joy, and love all while on crutches and in wheelchairs. This blog is just about me, mostly the writing side, but there are forays into so many different topics. I am married to a wonderful husband who puts up with my writing, knitting, yarn, with the love of a saint. We have fur babies, and one cat who rules us all.
