Christmas Is Upon Us…Almost

The Husband is out Christmas shopping as well as grocery shopping. It is warm-ish and rainy. There was even a thunderstorm this morning before daylight. Rain came down, it sounded like, in torrents, and the flashes of lightning were sporadic and added just the right touch to a rainy morning. Even though the Husband got up and went to tai chi, I remained behind today and just caught up on some much-needed sleep.

When I woke up, just a little before Noon – today I didn’t set an alarm – there was a doggie head on my arm and a doggie leg and foot up under my chin. It was unnerving to wake up and find something at your throat. For a moment there I thought of screaming, but thought I’d better see what the thing was at my throat first before having a conniption. Willie, the owner of said doggie head, leg, and foot; didn’t wake up at all. He was just as sound asleep as he had been since the Husband left to go to tai chi.

Since getting up I have really done very little other than the normal morning routine things for me. One major surprise for today was a visit from Cheyenne. We actually had lunch together for the first time in many months. It was Good to catch up with him. We laughed and joked. We were serious a couple of times.

Today I have decided I am just going to enjoy the day. I am going to enjoy every pre-Christmas moment I can.

And, I am going to knit.

About Henrietta Handy

I have returned home to the mountains. No more am I "a mountain-girl far from home." Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 2 1/2, I understand pain, fatigue, laughter, joy, and love all while on crutches and in wheelchairs. This blog is just about me, mostly the writing side, but there are forays into so many different topics. I am married to a wonderful husband who puts up with my writing, knitting, yarn, with the love of a saint. We have fur babies, and one cat who rules us all.
