Wow, It’s Mother’s Day

This is the first time in quite a while when Mother’s Day has come and I have been unprepared to make calls to my sisters, who are each wonderful mothers, to friends, and to just reflect on the wonderful Mommy I had to grace my world.

There is an observation, a new one, at least to me, I would like to make about mothers in general:

Mothers aren’t perfect.  They are just human beings like us, with years on us we do not have, as well as experiences we have yet to reach.

Mothers don’t always “like” their children.  How could they like us all the time when we don’t like ourselves all the time?  When we are young our demands are probably sometimes more than she feels she can handle, and in our adulthood we may not be the person she hoped we would be.  Hopefully the adult child will also reach the phase of “friend” as well as “child”.

Face it, we are always our Mom’s children, her baby.

Through everything, Mothers love us truly with all their hearts.

About Henrietta Handy

I am a Kentucky mountain girl far from home, perhaps far from the girl years. I am an aspiring writer with a wonderful husband who puts up with this writing and reading addiction I have. He also puts up with all of the yarn and knitting. I have four canine children and a ton of friends I love dearly. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 2 1/2 and have still managed to have a good life despite all the pain. So, I invite you to join me in this journey and just possibly have fun along the way.
